Asus had unveiled the phone back at the MWC 2018 event and is likely to bring it to several markets including India soon. The phone will be launched in China tomorrow at a starting price of CNY 2600 which means Rs. 26,000 approximately, if the leaked price to believed.
Asus Zenfone 5 price and release date
As per the latest leak from Chinese website MyDrivers, the Asus Zenfone 5 will be priced at NT$11,990, which converts to 2600 Yuan (roughly Rs 26,000). If the report is true, that will be a high price for a smartphone being powered by Snapdragon 636 chipset as Xiaomi already launched the Redmi Note 5 Pro with the same chipset at almost half than this rumored price.
Asus Zenfone 5 specifications
Coming to the specs, the Asus Zenfone 5 sports a 6.2-inch IPS LCD display with a notch on top. The notch presence means that the display has 19:9 aspect ratio with a screen resolution of 2246 x 1080 pixels. Asus Zenfone 5 will be running Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with Zen UI on top.
It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC, coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The company is supposed to launch both the 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM options in Taiwan, while in other countries, they might launch only 4GB RAM variant. Camera wise, the phone sports a dual rear camera setup with a primary Sony IMX363 12MP sensor and a 12MP secondary camera with 120-degree field-of-view. Up front, there is an 8MP selfie shooter. There is a fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone. The phone has 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and a USB Type-C port as connectivity options. It packs a 3000mAh battery with fast charging support. Asus is expected to launch the Zenfone 5 series in India sometime in May 2018. It will be interesting to see what price Asus launches the Zenfone 5 in India. If the recent leak to be believed and we see Asus’ previous record in pricing, we can expect it to be priced around Rs 25,000 in India.
