Physical Overview
The Lenovo Vibe S1 design looks exactly like the Lenovo Vibe S1 at first but the feel differs as the sides are made up of plastic and the glass back cover is replaced by a plastic cover. It feels great in hand and one handed usage is also pretty good. The Lenovo Vibe S1 Lite measures 145 x 71 x 8.6mm and weighs 129g, so while it’s a bit tall for a 5 inch smartphone, it’s undoubtedly on the lighter than many. Let’s start the overview with the front of the device. The front of the device sports a 5 inch Full HD screen (1920 x 1080 pixels) along with a 5MP camera on the top, coupled with front LED flash.
The rear of the device features the 13MP camera along with the dual tone LED flash.
The right side of the phone houses the volume rocker and the power button right under it. The feel of the buttons and the feedback from it is pretty decent. The sides of the device are made of a polycarbonate.
The bottom edge of the device houses the MicroUSB port that can be used for charging and data sync with your computer. Right next to the MicroUSB port is the primary microphone and speaker mesh on both sides.
User Interface
The Lenovo K4 notes come with Android Lollipop 5.1 out of the box with Vibe UI on top. The user interface, however, is full of features and animations, along with some extra bloatwares from Lenovo. It also offers Theme options to choose from and also the off-screen gestures. Vibe UI is tweaked with a lot of added components, since Lenovo has introduced it in the Vibe series. The response is good and it feels good to look at.
Camera Overview
The device features a 13MP rear shooter with, and a 5MP front shooter. As we have mentioned that the front facing camera is complimented by a LED flash. On top of this, Lenovo’s camera software brings a little extra than just the basic camera interface, with enhanced features for facial recognition, Live Photo mode and a few other modes. The rear shooter is paired with a dual tone LED flash, which helps to get better pictures in low lighting conditions.
Price and Availability
The Lenovo Vibe S1 Lite is priced at just $199 (Approx INR 13,250) for the 16GB model and is expected to arrive in India some time in Feb 2016.
Conclusion
For this price, this is a really good offer to think about. If not a deal breaker, this device is surely a good competitor to all the existing and upcoming devices in this price segment. After all, it is a selfie-centric device that should do well for the camera lovers or for those who need a good looking phone to get through with their basic tasks over a day. Stay tuned for more from CES 2016, and more from Lenovo. Don’t forget about the Lenovo’s much awaited announcements with Google concerning Project Tango.
