Physical Overview
The semblance of OnePlus One design is evident in the 2, but material used has improved this time. There are several back covers to choose from, including a Kevlar one. The most noticeable change is the presence of a physical home button look-alike, which is in fact a capacitive key. You can’t press it but it can scan your fingerprint and unlock the device instantly. Another genuinely interesting addition is the alert key or the mute key, housed on the metallic Aluminum side rim. Also, there is the USB Type C connector at the bottom, which is reversible and that is all there is to it.
The display looks and feels a lot better when compared to OnePlus One. It has better colors, deeper blacks and is quite bright at maximum brightness for better sunlight visibility. It seems to attract lots of smudges though. The bezels are narrower and on the bottom capacitive navigation keys are present. Hardware buttons give decent feedback. On the whole it feels more polished and premium than its predecessor and occupies the same footprint.
User Interface
The Oxygen OS 2.0 looks similar to stock Android Lollipop or the Oxygen OS that we have seen on the OnePlus One. A few new options include granular app permission just as in upcoming Android M, a new dark theme, on screen gesture support and a Google Now like launcher. We didn’t find any UI lag in our initial time with the device. If you like stock android, you will like the new OxygenOS too.
Camera Overview
The most significant changes include larger pixel size (1.3 micrometer), Laser AF and optical image stabilization. There is wide aperture f2.0 lens on top and you can also record 4k videos and slow motion videos at 120fps. We will still reserve our verdict till we have had more time to play with it but for now, it definitely looks better than the OnePlus One camera.
Competition
OnePlus 2 is the only phone which offers latest Snapdragon 810 for a very affordable price of 25k. It might not have Android flagship attributes like QHD Display, rapid charging or MicroSD card slot, but it still looks like the best offering for its price.
