Philips Mobile is a late arrival and will have to work extra hard to snatch its share. In the budget range segment, Motorola is spelling a lot of trouble for new arrivals and existing players alike, with its hot-selling Moto E and Moto G, and perhaps to succeed in Price sensitive Indian market, Philips will also have to provide with a competitive product at competitive prices. Philips is already a popular and trusted brand in India and this will surely help its cause if it plays its card right. Philips is expected to target mid range Android segment with its first smartphone and from the glimpse of the phone in the invite, it might be slim and sleek 5 inch device. Philips has also highlighted “Innovation that matters” which points towards some clever software tweaks in the smartphone UI. Other manufacturers like OBI mobiles and Xiaomi will soon enter Indian retail space. We are excited to see what Philips will bring to the table next week. Could be the Philips W6618 with a mammoth 5300 mAh batter? Let’s wait and watch.
