What we refer to as mid range segment isn’t constant. The goal post keeps shifting with increasing competition and these alleged mid rangers will eventually (after first few price cuts) fulfill the gap in 10,000 INR to 20,000 INR, which remains even with Samsung Galaxy E7 and Galaxy E5 retailing in the same price bracket.
Samsung Galaxy J5 has a 5 inch 720p IPS LCD display, and Galaxy J7 has a bigger 5.5 Inch IPS LCD panel with same amount of pixels. The chipset used makes for another difference. Galaxy J5 has low end 1.2 GHz 64 bit Snapdragon 410 quad core, and Galaxy J7 includes its more powerful octa core sibling, the Snapdragon 615 clocked at 1.5 GHz.
Besides above mentioned difference, both phones list 1.5 GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, MicroSD support, 13MP rear camera with LED flash, f/1.9 aperture lens, 5 MP front camera, also with LED flash and 120 degree wide angle lens, Dual SIM card support and 4G LTE. Since Galaxy J7 is bigger, it houses a bigger 3000 mAh battery(Vs 2600 mAh). Both smartphones will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop based TouchWiz pre-installed.
Samsung Galaxy J5 and J7 come in Black, White and Gold color options and were earlier launched in China priced at 1,398 Yuan ($225 or 14,360 INR), and 1,798 Yuan ($289 or 18468 INR) respectively.
