Camera and Internal Storage
The Videocon A29 comes with a camera unit that is modest to say the least and you can not expect good quality images from the same. It has a 3.2MP rear camera coupled with a VGA camera and they are meant to just get things done for you in times of need. The internal storage capacity stands at 4GB which is what you get in the segment and it can be expanded by another 32GB with the help of the microSD card slot which has been available. Do remember that the applications and games get installed just in the internal memory of which around 2.2 GB is user available.
Processor and Battery
A 1.2 GHz dual core processor is present under the hood and the can be found in the competition as well. It offers a decent amount of performance for an entry level device and works well with the 512MB RAM that joins hands with it. Giving the device ability to run for about a day is a 1,400 mAh battery unit that will get things done for you just fine. Seeing the fact that it does not cost much, we surely can not expect something better than this in the given segment.
Display and Features
The display a 4.0 inch capacitive unit which has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. The display resolution looks just fine on the budget device and provides you maximum value for your money. We would loved to see a better resolution but we aren’t complaining either. It runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and the device can be expected not to get an update in future so keep that in mind as well before you go in for it. The back is a leather unit so that lends it a premium look which actually makes it stand apart from the other budget devices.
Comparison
The Videocon A29 will be up against the likes of Micromax Canvas Juice A77, Karbonn A21+,Lava Iris 505 and Karbonn A27+. These have similar or better specifications but are slotted in the same price range of being sub Rs 7,000 devices. Videocon’s service network is wide as well due to its presence in other electronic arenas.
Key Specs
Conclusion
The device has everything other budget devices have but there’s nothing that stands apart from the rest barring the premium back of the device. That is the only differntiating factor that the Videocon A29 brings to the table. To sum it up, it is a good device for what you pay for it.
