It comes in two variants, he 2GB RAM variant is called Redmi 3s and the 3GB RAM variant is called Redmi 3s Prime. The 2GB variant comes with a price tag of INR 6,999 and the 3GB variant comes for INR 8,999 and will be available on Flipkart and MI official site from 9th August onwards. It will be coming in three color options which are Dark Grey, Silver and Gold.
Both version come with a 5-inch LCD IPS HD (720p) display on front. Under the hood it comes with a new 64-bit Snapdragon 430 octa-core chipset which is clocked at 1.4GHz. It features a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and LED flash and a 5MP front facing camera. The design looks premium and it is quite similar to its sibling Redmi Note 3 but with a smaller form factor in a metal body. Redmi 3s comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory and Redmi 3s Prime comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory which are further expandable upto 128GB via hybrid card slot. Sadly only the 3GB variant(Prime) comes with the Fingerprint sensor, which is located at the back. The phone comes with a 4,100mAh battery to power the device and it has also got an IR-Blaster at the top.
On the connectivity front, it has got 4G LTE, 3G, VOLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB OTG, Dual-SIM support, micro USB. It also packs all the necessary sensors like proximity, gyroscope, compass. It runs on Android Marshmallow (6.0) with MIUI 7 on top and MIUI 8 update will be coming soon. It has got aIT comes with a hybrid SIM card slot which allows the user to use either two SIM-cards simultaneously or a SIM and a micro-SD card. It weighs just 144 grams and is fairly sleek at 8.5mm of thickness. Considering the price, both version offer a good set of specification with a decent chipset and ample of RAM. It also comes with a premium with the metal build which generally not seen in other budget segment devices. The camera is good and the fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate. All in all it’s a nice deal, it offers a lot for the price and it’s a nice budget phone to own.
